Blackboard Inc. has been selected for the IDEAL-NM project as the state supported PK-20+ Learning Management System (LMS). This means that all districts and higher education institutions will have access to the same technology tools to use, develop, migrate, share, and offer online courses. The cost savings and benefits associated with this contract are significant.

Implementation details will be released as they evolve. IDEAL-NM Chief Technology Officer, Interim, Teresa Mays, will lead the implementation, and she can be contacted at teresa.mays@state.nm.us.

IDEAL-NM is a New Mexico higher education and public education program that provides eLearning services to New Mexico PK-12 schools, higher education institutions and government agencies.

IDEAL-NM courses expand the curricula offered by local schools, resolve scheduling conflicts, and meet a wide variety of schools and students needs. They can be accessed at any time during the day or evening by students.

The most commonly used model is for schools to register students and give them computer access at a scheduled time during the regular school day. Courses are taught by highly-qualified New Mexico teachers who have received special training in online teaching. Their "class" sizes are small to enable personalized instruction.
